Presentation of fishing port
The port of Sète is the first French Mediterranean fishing port. To meet the needs of the fishing industry, it is equiped with specific structures and infrastructure:
- A fish auction and materials allowing the sale of seafood products according to different regulations and welcoming its customers.
- Mooring docks, with water supply and equipment storage area, dedicated to the fishing industry.
- Careening area for vessels up to 180 tons.
- Production system and sale of crushed ice for food products.
The fishing port has the distinction of being in the center of Sète, a result of the culture of fishing activity in the city for centuries.
The fishing port also has an activity area, located in the ZIFMar on which coexist shellfish farming, aquaculture, fish wholesalers, a freezing centre, carriers and plant nursery. Part of this area is supplied with raw sea water. Lots have been awarded for projects working in the seafood industry.
