Transport and logistics
A range of transport options:
The Languedoc Roussillon
(Languedoc Roussillon Prospection),region offers:
A modern, highly-developed road, rail and waterway network
placed at the heart of major traffic routes.
Regional logistics facilities incorporate all available
means of transport:
combined rail/road haulage depots, inland waterway
links, land transport links.
The road and motorway network:
A9 : towards the Rhone Valley, Rhône-Alpes
and from Northern Europe to Spain
A54 : Nîmes-Salon, towards Provence
Côte d’Azur and Italy
A61 : towards Toulouse and the South-west
A75 : towards Clermont-Ferrand and
Central France
The rail network:
Apart from the regional service, the rail network offers
direct connections to all the major national destinations
(Toulouse, Marseille, Lyon, Paris…) as well as
to the leading cities of Northern and Southern Europe.
Over 8 million tonnes of goods pass through the regional
rail network
The waterway route:
With its 1,000 T gauge, the Rhone-Sète Canal
leads to the Rhone and Saône, giving access to
600 km of waterways from the maritime port.
This method of transport is environmentally friendly
and modern, with a new generation of river barges. Inland
waterway transport is one of Sètes great
attractions, both for freight (cereals, fertilisers,
paper pulp, seeds, cattle cake, scrap metals, etc...)
and canal cruise passengers.
